There are pole dancers you admire for their strength. There are performers who leave you speechless with their technique. And then there are artists whose movement makes you forget about the pole altogether. Marion Crampe is one of those artists. Known throughout the international pole community for her unmistakable fluidity, extraordinary flexibility and deeply expressive movement, the French artist has spent almost two decades exploring what the human body can communicate through movement. For Marion, pole has never been simply about tricks, strength or perfect lines. It is a language, and watching her move can feel more like watching a story unfold than witnessing an athletic performance.
And this October, we are incredibly excited to welcome again Marion Crampe to Slovenia and Lupit Pole Headquarters.
Marion grew up in the South of France and danced from an early age, experimenting with different styles before eventually moving to Paris. Interestingly, the dancer who would later become recognised around the world was not always considered a natural talent. Marion has spoken openly about being told that she wasn't particularly good at dance. Rather than allowing those opinions to define her, she continued moving, training and following her intuition. Alongside her passion for dance, she studied sports science and earned a Master's degree in Sport Education, specialising in fitness and personal training, a foundation that would later become an important part of her work as an instructor.
Then, towards the end of 2006, everything changed.
A friend invited Marion to a pole class in Paris. Pole dance was still in the very early stages of becoming the global movement we know today, but for Marion the connection was immediate. She was 25 when her professional journey into pole began. And she never looked back.
What followed was not simply a career in pole dance, but a remarkable exploration of movement. Marion developed a style that became instantly recognisable: fluid, elegant, powerful and emotional. Rather than treating the pole as an apparatus on which to perform individual tricks, she allows movement to travel continuously through her body.
Over the years, her work has taken her around the world as a performer and teacher, sharing her approach through performances, workshops and masterclasses with the international pole community. But perhaps what makes Marion particularly special is the philosophy behind her movement. She has described pole as something that transformed her relationship with herself. Through movement, she found greater confidence and a sense of belonging. What once made her feel different eventually became one of her greatest strengths. That idea is beautifully reflected in the way she teac hes.Marion doesn't believe that everybody should tell the same story.
Instead, she encourages dancers to begin with who they already are and discover their own possibilities. Her teaching combines technique with exploration, individuality and connection to the body. The objective isn't simply to reproduce a shape. It is to understand movement and eventually make it your own.
Marion's artistic curiosity has never stopped at the pole. Her practice has expanded into other forms of movement and performance, including the extraordinary discipline of hair suspension, in which the performer is suspended by their hair. For Marion, even something as physically demanding as hair suspension isn't primarily about demonstrating an extreme ability. Like a pole, it becomes another way of exploring presence, expression and what it means to inhabit the body fully. This curiosity is central to her work.
She finds inspiration in music, people, art, books and the smallest details of everyday life. She has spoken about the importance of discipline while simultaneously remaining open to change, an interesting combination that perhaps explains the effortless quality of her movement.
Behind that effortlessness are, of course, countless hours of training. There is no shortcut to becoming Marion Crampe. And perhaps that is part of what makes her so inspiring.
After so many years in the industry, Marion's passion for pole remains remarkably stro ng.In interviews, she speaks about pole not simply as her profession but as something that continues to fascinate her: the possibilities of the body, the feeling of movement, the people she meets and the endless opportunity to create something new .Her story is also a powerful reminder that becoming an artist isn't always about being the person who showed the most obvious talent at the beginning. It can be about curiosity. Persistence. Learning to trust your own body.
Finding the thing that makes you feel completely alive, and continuing to explore it.
Perhaps that is why Marion has connected with so many people around the world. Behind the spectacular flexibility and seemingly impossible movement is something very human: the idea that our differences don't have to be corrected. They can become part of our language.
And now, we finally get to welcome that energy to Slovenia.
